Trying to decide if you need a planner to help organize your life? Don’t miss these five signs that will show you just how much a planner can help you.
Life can be hectic, busy, and sometimes completely overwhelming. We all have so much going on all the time. There are appointments, deadlines, and work schedules to keep track of. You also have a household to manage, meals to prep, and bills to pay. We won’t even talk about that never ending to-do list.
With everything we have going on it’s no wonder we feel like life is constantly spinning out of control.
I’ve lived in that state of constant overwhelm before, and I’ve listened as other women have shared their hearts about it too. It leads to daily feelings of failure because no matter how hard you try you just can’t get everything under control.
How do you keep up with all the things? How do you live with more peace and purpose?
As I listen to their struggles my mind always goes to “Girl, you need a planner and a system to help you make that life that your dreaming of a reality!”
5 Signs You Need a Planner
If Life Constantly Feels Overwhelming
One of the biggest indicators that you need a planner is your level of overwhelm with your life.
I still at times struggle with feelings of overwhelm in my own life. When that happens I try to stop and evaluate why I am feeling like this. The answer is almost always that I’m not being consistent with my planner.
If you constantly feel like everything is spinning out of control, a planner is the perfect place to start pulling everything back together.
If You Are Constantly Forgetting Things
Have you ever given someone a birthday gift that was a little late? As you hand them the gift you say something along the lines of “Sorry it’s late. Time just got away from me this month.” I am totally guilty of this and many other similar scenarios.
We try so hard to keep track of so many things in our brains, but it is so easy to forget them. It is also really hard to live in the moment when our brains are always running a mile a minute trying to keep up with everything that’s going on.
Your brain needs a break. You need to clear out some mental space so that you can have more focus. Clearing out some mental space will allow you to be more productive and prioritize better because your brain won’t be struggling just to keep track of every little thing.
Having a place to write down all of those little things you are constantly trying to keep track of is really important. A planner is the perfect tool to write everything down in one centralized place. It also gives you the space to write reminder notes in advance for things like buying a birthday gift, sending a card, or booking a room for vacation.
If You Are Missing Deadlines
In today’s world we have a lot of deadlines. There are deadlines on bills, work projects, and school projects. It’s insane the amount of deadlines most people have just in bills alone. With so many deadlines it’s only natural that your going to miss them if you don’t have a place to keep track.
Using a planner gives you a place to write down all of those deadlines so that you can see at a glance what’s coming up and know in what order you need to get things done. This means no more paying late fees on bills, forgetting to return library items on time, or asking for extensions on projects at work.
If You Are Not Making Progress on Your Goals
Have you ever set goals on January first only to forget about them a week later? Yeah, me too. As a matter of fact a lot of people forget about their goals completely by the beginning of February.
Although it’s sad that this is the norm, it makes sense how that could easily happen when you don’t have a system to remind you and track your progress.
A planner can help hold you accountable to those goals that you set. It gives you the space to write and track your progress. Forgetting your goals will no longer be a problem because you’ll be seeing them all the time.
If There Are Things You Dream of Doing
The struggle to end overwhelm isn’t just because we want to better control all the things. Most of us also have a dream or vision of how we would like to live our lives. We want to live with more purpose and joy.
We want the chance to spend more time with our families, pursue our dreams, invest in our hobbies, and live a life that feeds our souls instead of leaving us exhausted.
What that life full of purpose looks like will be different for all of us. But no matter what kind of life you’ve been dreaming of, a planner can help you get there.
Using a planner helps you to choose what’s important. It gives you a space to decide how you are going to spend your time. It makes you pro-active with your life. You choose what you fill those pages with! As you start choosing to write down those things that are important to you, you might just make those dreams a reality.
If you are experiencing the signs above in your own life, it might be time to take that first step to regaining control and living the life of your dreams. Start by doing your research to find the right planner for you. I promise it just might change your life!
